HOW DOES IT WORK?

Before we can start to pass on our knowledge and experience as mentors, we need to learn about you! What are you good at? What are you best at? What makes you unique? What are you passionate about? By leveraging decades of research, proven assessment methods and the "science of strengths", we will uncover and examine your “Talent DNA” to start building your Summit to Success!

DEFINE YOUR PURPOSE.
Look beyond the classroom, beyond the field, the rink or the court - who are you and what are you after? Sure, you’re an athlete and a student… for now. However, most student-athletes confuse what they do with who they are and will continue to do so, even after their careers are over. Understanding your purpose, first and foremost as a human being, will give you the perspective and edge you need to maximize your potential.

SET YOUR GOALS.
To achieve your goals you must start by setting the right kind of goals. In contrast to popular practice, your goals should not be statistics, awards or accolades - these are outcomes that often are short lived. Instead, your goals should focus on who you want to be or become, as a student, as an athlete, as a person. They are long-term objectives that prioritize the journey, not the destination - if your intentions are right, the results will follow.

ALIGN YOUR TARGETS.
Time to think big - what do you want to accomplish within the next year? The next three years? The next five? Will hitting these targets bring you closer to your goals or not? Choosing realistic targets that are aligned with your goals is a critical step in your Summit to Success. Targets that are too big, not big enough or take you off track will negatively impact your confidence, focus and progress. This is where we start to expect and measure the results that follow from setting proper goals.

MANAGE YOUR TIME & TASKS.
How often have you heard the phrase, “time is money?” Perhaps to some… but when’s the last time you budgeted or invested your time? We believe time is far more valuable than money and we will teach you how protect and enhance your most precious and limited resource. By prioritizing your efforts and learning how to do the right tasks at the right time, you will be able to stay on top of your busy and demanding schedule without sacrificing progress towards your goals.

COMMIT TO THE CLIMB!
Now that we’ve mapped out your journey and made an action plan, all that’s left is to climb your Summit to Success. With continued membership, you’ll get the ongoing support and coaching you need to reach your highest potential. Need some help or have a question? You’ll have access to your mentor at any time by text or email. We'll also have periodic phone and/or video calls to keep you on track and accelerate your progress.

Why Elevate?
The idea of relating the student-athlete experience with a climbing a mountain came to me after reflecting on a memorable experience I had in Japan. On the heels of a disappointing loss at an international baseball tournament, our team decided to hike to the top of Mt. Fuji for sunrise. It was one of the coolest things I've ever done and looking back, it was also quite poetic. I had reached the height of my student-athlete career at almost the exact moment I was at the top of Mt. Fuji... And I thought, having come down, what would I say to those at the top? What about someone who was halfway up or to those who hadn't started yet? How would I have done it differently? What did I enjoy most or miss along the way?
I created Elevate Mentoring to provide that kind of insight and to equip the next-generation of student-athletes with the skills and knowledge they need to climb their own mountain. Because, I believe, if you learn how to climb one mountain, you can learn to climb any mountain!
